World Renowned Guitarist Celebrates Release of New CD With Special Concert At Kent Stage
Posted: 1/12/2012
Following a recent sold out holiday show at Playhouse Square, Neil Zaza, one of the most acclaimed and unique guitar players in the world, will celebrate the release of his brand new CD Clyde The Cat with a special concert on March 16th, 2012 at the historic Kent Stage.

Neil’s new CD features ten new recordings including originals such as "Endless Highway" and "Jewel". It also contains an electrifying version of Elton John's "Funeral For a Friend" which promises to be a highlight of some upcoming performances by Neil and his band. "After finishing my last CD, 212, even though the project was done I found out creatively I wasn't. Ideas and songs kept coming and those are what turned into Clyde the Cat," explains Neil. "I'm very happy with the CD. The songs came very naturally and I believe the CD represents some of my best guitar playing to date."

The new Clyde The Cat CD also features a live bonus track of Neil's "In My Dreams" featuring drummer John Sferra from the influential band Glass Harp. "John is an absolute legend and a powerhouse on the drums and it was an honor to have him participate in this project. He even played a few gigs with us as a special guest and it was a great collaboration," stated Neil Zaza. Drumming legend Steve Smith (Journey, Vital Information) appears on two tracks as well.

Neil's new CD, Clyde The Cat, is named after his longtime feline friend, Clyde, a constant companion for Neil at home and in the recording studio. Neil explains, "Whenever I would be writing or tracking for the project, my cat Clyde would always be by my side "producing" the project as only cats can do. He was always there watching me work and keeping me company as well as demanding my undivided attention. One day he was on my amp as I was recording, I snapped a pic of him with my iPhone and loved the pic so much I thought it would be fun to name the album in honor of him and his watchful contributions."

With the new Clyde the Cat CD coming out in March, Neil wanted to have a special concert to celebrate it's release. "We played the Kent Stage last year and had a great time. The fans all wanted us to come back and we are happy to be coming there again," said Neil Zaza.

In December, Neil's annual holiday concert "One Silent Night..." sold out leaving many fans wanting an opportunity to see the guitar legend live. I'm looking forward to playing songs from Clyde the Cat live for the first time." states Neil. "I'm also going to be throwing in a few surprises as well as the fan favorites. It's going to be a completely new show and I’m sure everyone will enjoy it."

Neil is also making the ticket price for this special concert affordable for all his fans. Tickets for All seats will be just $25. This special concert provides a rare opportunity for Northeastern Ohio fans to experience one of the world's innovators in melodic instrumental rock.

To help raise awareness and money for rescue cats, like Clyde, Neil is teaming up with "Tails From The City," (www.tailsfromthecity.us) a local cat rescue shelter and is asking his fans to support their efforts. People can make a donation at the show and receive a free CD. In addition, proceeds from the sale of the "best seats in the first two rows" will go to the shelter.

Over the past two decades Neil’s guitar playing has defined modern day instrumental guitar the world over. His melodic compositions have not only changed the way musicians play, but what audiences demand out of their guitar heroes. With fiery technical brilliance and breathtaking musical interpretation, Neil Zaza has defined himself as the instrumental guitarist with an unparalleled ability to combine solid, catchy songwriting with a keen melodic sense and technical fury. From his virtuoso rock solos, to laying a funk groove, to demonstrating his classical prowess by performing Bach and Mozart compositions, Zaza’s extreme versatility has been showcased worldwide in concerts, clinics, festivals, as well as on his own solo instrumental albums.

Tickets for the March 16th, Neil Zaza Clyde The Cat Release concert at the Kent Stage can be ordered online at www.kentstage.org. All tickets are just $25 except for the first two rows which are $75 with proceeds going to the Tails From The City non-profit organization.
